Students shall know the scope of media law, the obligations of media owners as well as the limits of free speech and be able to assess typical risks connected with media (eg defamation, violation of intellectual property rights).

Written test (80%)Active participation / taking part in the discussions in the lecture (20%) if possible: case presentation - adressing all relevant points of the  case will get a percentage to be deducted from the two other criteria50% of the points are needed for passing the courseAttendance: Presence in Klagenfurt at minimum 3 of the 6 sessions from 13.11.2023 to 30.1.2024 and the exam on 31.1.2024 is mandatory. Remotely or asynchronous participation is not possible.
