We are confronted with fundamental social and environmental challenges that affect theory and practice. At the same time, we are facing a digital future. Technology is disrupting all areas of enterprise and of our lives. High-growth technology companies (Airbnb, Uber/Lyft, LinkedIn, Social Media, eCommerce) have penetrated nearly every area of society. Entrepreneurship rising in a globalized and digitized world is driving the need for more supportive ecosystems. Through digital means people’s capacity grows to go far beyond passive consumption. Empowered prosumers are getting  better at generating value for customers: from sharing (Facebook) to shaping to funding (Kickstarter) to producing to co-owning (Linux). In addition, digitally driven social innovations change global markets and give rise to business models beyond profit (e.g. Wikipedia).Here are exemplary questions this lecture will engage with:What is social entrepreneurship and how does it relate to digital technologies?Which elements are needed to create a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem (Higher Education Institutions, Policy, Corporations, Customers, Finance, Talent pool …)?
