This course is in parallel to the main lecture and covers most of its topics. By the end of the course the student will acquire different skills and methodologies to solve simple problems related to signal processing and communication systems.

Basics of the theory of signals:Definition and properties of a signal. Signal transformations and elementary operations. Most common time-domain signals. Convolution.Frequency representation: Fourier series and Fourier transform.Complex representation: Analytic signal and Hilbert transform.Basics of communications:Random processes.Power spectral density.Structure of a communication system.

Assignments Written test Final oral interview if needed.

Assignments are part of the exam. They will be given throughout the course based on the exercises and material presented during the course. Moreover, they have to be handed in within specific deadlines before the final written exam.Written exam will consist of only exercises related to the topics discussed.
