Students acquire basic knowledge on topics in the field of production and logistics. Challenging decision problems will be identified and formulated mathematically. After passing the course, students will be able to classify decision problems based on the complexity. Students will be able to generate mathematical models for classical problems arising in operations management. For these problems, they will be able to judge which methods are needed to solve them. For some standard problems, they will be able to generate solutions by methods discussed in class.
Lehrmethodik
Lectures and exercises (to be solved at home and discussed in class). Grading is based on a written exam and home exercises.
Inhalt/e
The following topics will be covered:- Location problems- Production planning- Lotsizing- Scheduling- Routing
