We are facing a digital future. Technology is disrupting all areas of enterprise and of our lives. High-growth technology companies (Airbnb, Uber/Lyft, LinkedIn, Social Media, eCommerce) have penetrated nearly every area of society. Entrepreneurship rising in a globalized and digitized world is driving the need for more supportive ecosystems. Through digital means people’s capacity grows to go far beyond passive consumption. Empowered prosumers are getting ever better at generating value for customers: from sharing (Facebook) to shaping to funding (Kickstarter) to producing to co-owning (Linux). Technology driven social innovations change global markets and give rise to business models beyond profit (e.g. Wikipedia). How are these trends reflected in the emerging Alpe-Adria startup region?Which elements are needed to create a supportive startup ecosystem (Higher Education Institutions, Policy, Corporations, Customers, Finance, Talent pool …)?
