Inhalt/e
This class will explore the question of how meaning is constructed in language. Our particular focus will be a cognitive one, i.e. we will inquire into mental processes of meaning making and its representation in language. This path will take us closer to understanding the relation between language and the notions of categorization, semantic frames, image schemas, blending, and figurative associations. Participants will have the opportunity to apply their understanding in their own research and investigate the construction of meaning in diverse texts and media.
