This interactive module introduces the concept of lifelogs and passive personal data capture and organisation. We motivate the need for lifelogging and introduce a number of use-cases for lifelogging. Following this, we explore the progression of relevant technologies and outline some of the many potential applications at the individual and societal level. We then explore how lifelog data is organised and enriched before we explore state-of-the art automatic and interactive retrieval systems for lifelogs. Finally, we take a look forward to identify the likely future progression of lifelog technologies in the coming decade and consider the societal challenges that come with a world of lifelogging.
