Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
The final grade will be determined by points of three kinds: (1) assignment points for solving the homework assignments, (2) presentation points for presenting the solved problems in the class, (3) points for the final exam. The maximum possible total amount of points is 28.Assignment points (AP): up to 12 points. In the course of the semester, 14 homework assignments will be given. Students will declare, via an electronic system ("crossing lists"), which problems they have solved and can present in the class. The number of points earned by a student for a weekly homework assignment is the ratio of the crosses he/she selected to the total number of crosses in this assignment. (For example, if there are 5 crosses and a student selects 3 of them, he/she earn 0.6 assignment points for that week. Thus, the maximum number of points for any given week is 1.) At the end of the semester, the points for the best 12 assignments will be summed to give the student's assignment points.Presentation points (PP): up to 4 points.During the class, for each problem, one of the students who selected it will be randomly chosen to present the solution. Every presentation will be graded from 0 to 4 points. To receive the maximum grade (4), the student should provide a correct, precise, and relevant solution, demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical background, and be able to provide relevant examples. At the end of the semester, the average of individual presentation points will be computed to give the student's presentation points.Points for the final exam (EP): up to 12 points. The final exam will take place in July. A list of relevant topics and methods will be provided in due time. To those who do not pass the course due to an insufficient grade for the final exam, (one) additional opportunity to repeat it will be given at the end of September. In order to pass the course, a student should earn1. at least 8 assignment points,2. at least 6 points at the final exam.If these conditions are not fulfilled, the student will not pass the course (final grade 5).If these conditions are fulfilled, the total amount of points P = AP+PP+EP will be converted into the final grade as follows:P < 16 → 5 (failing)16 ≤ P < 19 → 419 ≤ P < 22 → 322 ≤ P < 25 → 225 ≤ P ≤ 28 → 1Attendance is compulsory. Each student can be absent from at most two exercise sessions. For each additional absence, the student should notify the teacher by e-mail before 11:00 on the day of the class, and provide evidence for a justified reason of absence (for example, a sick note). Failure to do so will result in the student not passing the course. In any case, if a student does not attend a class, he/she should not mark any problems in the respective checklist (or should remove the crosses if they have already been made). Failure to do so will result in all marks for that week being removed. If the situation repeats, one point (from the total of 28) will be deducted each time it occurs."Registration can be canceled until 31 March, 23:59. Any student who does not cancel their registration by this time will be graded as outlined above.Additional information will be published on Moodle.
