This course aims at introducing basic concepts in cryptography, system security, attacks and countermeasures.

There will be a mix between lecture and lab sessions. The former aims at introducing and explaining fundamental concepts, while the latter aims at providing students with hands-on experience through practice exercises.

This course covers security notions, commonly used cryptographic primitives as well as their roles in securing information, notable attacks and how to secure the systems.Programming exercises / examples are mainly based on C and Python.

There are no pre-requisites, yet it is expected that students are familiar with and able to do basic math (such as algebra and probability) as well as programming.
