The aim of this course is for students to be able to apply and use their computer knowledge in normal everyday English. A simplified understanding of this field has to be conveyed in written and spoken form with accuracy and precision. Areas to be covered include: Computer Users, Interviews, Websites, Recent Developments in IT, People in Computing, The Future of IT, Communications Systems. Please note students are required to update any knowledge from the material given to them, which may be outdated. There will also be some emphasis on grammar.

Student-generated content (paired conversations) is the source of recognising a need for technical terms or a particular aspect of grammar. Reporting on the conversations presents them to the full group, where they are discussed.Personal statements - short summaries of common topics in computing - are a written, more formal version of the conversations.
