“Let there be a digital future,”we say, “but let it bea human future first”, Shoshana Zuboff demands in her book „The Age of Surveillance Capitalism“. Societies design technologies – technologies designsocieties. So to develop new technologies means to evolve new social andpolitical processes. The development of surveillance technologies threatens democratic processes as China‘s social-credit-system shows. Edward Snowden showed up the „permanent record“ by the USA‘s secret services. So is there a chance to encounter Surveillance Capitalism? How can or should technology contribute to a balance between social justice, democracy and freedom that empowers people and minorities? In this lecture we reflect the humanity-machine-connection in the following units: Introduction in technology assessment, Introduction in Gender Studies, Usability and Gender, Usability and Disability, Social-Technology-Systems.
