Upon completing this seminar, students will be familar with - existing (linguistic) theories and approaches to language, discourse, gender and sexuality- current theoretical and empirical foci in this field- various linguistic methods to collect data and to analyze texts and discourses on gender and sexuality Students will also be more critically aware of how language and discourse function as powerful agents in the context of people's gendered and sexual identities.
