The aim of this course is to improve speaking skills in English in order to communicate better with people outside one’s own culture. Besides giving insight into concepts of intercultural communication and raising awareness for groups with a different cultural background, students will practise their English so as to gain confidence for when using the language. Speaking English fluently and improving one’s language competence is key to understand our world, which is constantly and increasingly affected by globalisation processes. Advanced communication skills will aid students in conducting conversations and discussions about a wide range of topics outside their own culture and remain open to different cultural values.
