In this course students will be assessed in the following ways:continuous assessment in the form of self-, peer-, and instructor-generated feedback;various academic and professional texts representing multiple genres; anda in-class written examination. Students will be expected to create texts using laptops provided in the language lab in order to facilitate observation by the course instructors using the language lab software.

Advanced language competences related to writing (See CEFR for more specifics) including but not limited to an advanced lexical and syntactic range and rhetorical strategies relating to argumentation.
Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
The grading for this course will be based on:several in-class writing assignments (including the timed diagnostic during the first class session) anda timed, in-class written examination.Students will be provided with a detailed rubric that lays out the assessment criteria for written assignments. The use of generative AI is expressly forbidden in this course in all stages of the writing process. Should the use of AI be suspected, students may be asked to take part in an oral defense that will take the place of the written assignment. In clear cases of plagiarism and/or the use of generative AI, a failing grade is warranted. Further information about this is available on the course Moodle page.
