The aim of this class is to think about the way linguistics and different linguistic methods can be applied to everyday encounters of language (on TV, outside on the street, on social media etc.) and help us get a better understanding of language and linguistics but also the way we use language to express underlying feelings, emotions, attitudes etc.

The class will have an accompanying moodle course with online tasks, the rest will be a mix of small fieldwork projects and discussions about the projects in class

Language on social media, TV and real life including multilanguaging, dialects, social behavior expressed through language and understanding underlying conceptualization
