This course provides an opportunity for students to practice and develop their academic speaking skills in English. Students will have the opportunity to engage in frequent academic discussions. After conducting research on a given topic, students will have the opportunity to present their findings either through presentations or discussions.

- active student participation required- reading assignments to be completed in and outside of class (as preparation for speaking tasks)- lecture, discussions, workshops, student contributions, instructorfeedback and peer feedback
Inhalt/e
- participating in academic discussions- summarization and synthesis of academic content- expressing, defending and refuting arguments- improving pronunciation skills, grammatical accuracy, lexical range and overall idiomaticity- critical thinking skills
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
- general presentation skills- academic vocabulary on a wide range of topics- how to express oneself in formal, academic settings- research skills including the ability to summarize and synthesize information accurately- it is expected that students have a generally advanced level of English, especially as regards pronunciation (frequent, systematic errors can be grounds for failing the course)

- B.A. students (612) must have completed Pronunciation and Language Productive and Receptive Skills- “Lehramt”/UF/B.Ed. students (407) must have completed the entire module ENC (Language Awareness 2 and Advanced Language Productive and Receptive Skills) - Erasmus/Study-abroad/Incoming students should check eligibility with the course instructor
